Ciaran McNulty becomes NSAI-approved Thermal Modeller
Ciaran McNulty, General Manager at Nuspan Flooring, has passed the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) course to become an approved Thermal Modeller.
This certification allows Ciaran to examine and enhance the thermal efficiencies of bridging details and junctions, to comply with building regulations’ Technical Guidance Document (TGL) Part L.
The rigorous NSAI course required thermal bridging calculations, sample details and a written submission. After successfully passing the course, Ciaran has been added to an official register of Thermal Modellers, which will be audited regularly in order to maintain high standards of competency.
Thermal modelling is crucial for reducing the primary energy use of buildings. This is particularly important in areas at high risk of condensation and heat loss, such as at doors or other junctions between construction elements. Identifying and improving thermal performance in this way helps to lower the building envelope’s U-value (also known as thermal transmittance).
As well as providing thermal modelling, Nuspan’s products can benefit a building’s thermal performance. The insulated precast concrete units (IPCU) can achieve U-values as low as 0.10 W/m2K. In addition, the structural concrete is cast straight onto the insulation, so heat loss is minimized.
With this combination of technical advice and MMC products, Nuspan can now give full assurance with our collaborative approach to providing thermal solutions. Contact us for more information.
